I went into this movie expecting to be bored because I wouldn't know what was going on. My Spanish is not good enough to understand rapid-fire Spanish movie dialogue. I expected a somewhat sappy love story. Instead, I understood every word while still getting to practice my Spanish, thanks to the subtitles. I was engaged in the drama and action of the movie. This movie was actually quite enjoyable. The only thing I did not like was the ending. It seemed like the director didn't know how to end his movie, so he just didn't. When in doubt, kill off the main characters and move on to the credits.

I typically enjoy foreign movies because it shows the drastic differences in cultures for what is considered an appropriate film production. Some things that I realized instantly was that the movie was going to be sowing the "dark side" of the world we are all a part of. The two main characters, Sosa and Olivera are two people drawn into the dark underworld of corruption and form a romantic relationship that in the end is the death of them. I was not surprised to find Olivera to be a drug addict but I didn't quite expect Sosa to be so deeply involved in the insurance fraud scheme.I found the ending to be very different from many American produced films with many of the characters dying in the end. I can only assume that after Sosa and Olivera got into their own car crash that they both ended up dying as a result of trying to change their lives for the better but going about it in a horrible way.
