Spanish Movie Review

I enjoyed Vicky Cristina Barcelona because it had a lot of real life situations involved throughout the movie. It seems as if it has become more common for people to go to foreign countries and have wild love affairs. The movie showed how people can get too involved with other people's lives, too. The characters seemed very realistic and were able to express various "everyday" people along with the emotions that they would go through given those portrayed experiences. I interpreted the message of the movie as to live in a more laid-back approach. I believe it showed Vicky's struggles and how she was when she was "uptight" and then showed her once she lightened up a bit. Vicky was my favorite character because she seemed to go through the most in the movie. She had a lot of internal struggles, but she still remained so composed in life and was successful with her career.
It was wrong that Vicky had an affair with Juan Antonio, while being engaged, but maybe she just needed to get it out of her system since she had not really lived on the wild side. I think at some point in everyone's lives, they experiment with that; she kept hers to a minimal level, though, adjusted to things before they got too carried away, which was a positive thing to do.
Juan Antonio reminded me of a Latino man I once knew, and he acted the same way. I think men like that need to realize that they can't have their cake and eat it, too. I would hope he changed his lifestyle around because he hurt at least three women in one way or another.
This movie was a good movie, and it kept my attention throughout the movie. It helped that some of the parts were presented in a comic way instead of being completely serious. It would be worth showing Vicky Cristina Barcelona again in the future.
